Mistakes in the tax return

Hi all,

I’d already submitted my tax return in October, but currently I’ve found out I made some mistakes. So, there are a couple of questions now.
Can I send the amended version of the tax return to the tax office? If yes, are there any additional penalties in such a situation?

Yes, you can send the adjusted version of your tax return to your tax office.
The important thing is that the tax office hasn’t reviewed your tax return yet and you don’t have the final tax assessment from it. If it were the case, it would be too late.

So, make your corrections and send the tax return asap.

Yes, that is correct. Especially, if you didn’t submit it online, but send it by letter post.

If you used ZHprivateTax, make your amendments, print it out, sign it and send it incl. all supporting documents (like you did first time). I also suggest to make additional notes on a separate A4 explaining that you are submitting the adjusted tax declaration and what exactly you amended.

If you submitted the tax return online, then the procedure is a bit complicated. But as I understand, it’s not your case.

I am not sure, but I usually get my final tax bill in 9-10 months. Some of my colleagues receive it in 4-5 months, some in more than one year.

I don’t know exactly what the season for this is, but I assume it depends on the complexity of your tax situation as well as on the capacity of the tax office where you submit your tax declaration.

I need an advice. I have fulfilled my tax return and sent it to the tax office. But I did not add my supporting documents. In fact, I did not know about this. Can I send my supporting documents in the next letter and does it make the sense?
What consequences might await me after?

I recommend you to send all your supporting documents as soon as possible. Without confirmations your tax rate could be much more higher.
I think you don’t want to pay more taxes?😃

Unfortunately online submission is for single use only. I recommend you to fill out the original form and send your tax declaration vie regular mail.
It could be better to attach the letter with clarifications about corrected mistakes.
